798 was far less famous than now when I went there in 2005 spring. The taxi driver even didn't know its location. Now it becomes a major attraction.
Hutong is not easy to find in the heart of Beijing city nowadays. The 4th picture looks like the street leading to Houhai. I had a drink there twice with 2 groups of boring people (LOL).
I ran into the hutong while I was strolling around near the Clock Tower (gulou) but the cab driver didn't know how to get there. That's quite ironic. So I spent quite some time walking through the rabbit warrens of the hutongs.
Found a bar with live jazz near Houhai, called East Shore Jazz. It was quite nice.
